چکیده

By evolving self-reproducers, found in two-dimensional Cellular Automata rules, we obtain fractal-like objects. This paper focuses on analyzing the fractal features of different self-reproducers and provides a perspective on how it is possible to translate into music some creative processes self-reproducers show, which are similar to the counterpoint method. Many self-reproducers are tied together and combined to imitate or respond to the rhythm of other self-reproducers, thus realizing the inner beauty of the life-likeartificial shapes.

Age-specific survival and reproductive probabilities: evidence for senescence in male fallow deer (Dama dama).

Survival and reproduction are key features in the evolution of life-history strategies. In this study, we use capture-mark-resighting and multi-state models to examine survival senescence and reproductive senescence in six successive cohorts of fallow bucks that were studied for 16 years. We found that the overall age-specific survival probabilities of males were highly variable and the best-fi...

Algorithmic Composition of Contrapuntal Music

For this project, your goal is to implement a program that writes music in contrapuntal style, since this form is so fundamentally algorithmic. Contrapuntal music, also called counterpoint, is a structure of musical composition that originated in the Renaissance and was developed extensively in Baroque and Classical music, particularly in canons and fugues written by Bach and Mozart. Many speci...

The influence of self-fertilization performance and copulation behaviour in reproduction by cross-fertilization in groups of Biomphalaria tenagophila (Mollusca, Planorbidae).

The following hypotheses were tested for groups of simultaneous hermaphrodites Biomphalaria tenagophila: (a) snails that have low reproductive success during the process of self-fertilization do not increase their reproductive success after the end of grouping; (b) the copulation behaviour and the presence of one snail whose eggs have a low viability rate influence the partner's reproductive su...

Formal Definition of Self-reproductive Systems

Formal definition of self-reproduction may have importance the Alife research program, especially for application of its achievements outside the discipline. The paper examines two formal definitions of self-reproduction, suggested by McMullin and Löfgren. It is pointed out that these definitions form two major branches of selfreproduction analysis, described by ancestor-progeny and system-envi...

From replicators to reproducers: the first major transitions leading to life.

A classification of replicators is proposed: life depends on replicators that can exist in an indefinitely large number of forms (unlimited heredity), and whose replication is modular rather than processive. The first template replicators would have increased at a rate less than exponential, because of self-inhibition arising from molecular complementarity. The result would be the survival of a...
